Belinda Sinclair is a Queensland based Visual Artist working in Printmaking, Photography, Sculpture, and Drawing.

Guided by an Animist world view, Sinclair’s images manifest through a responsive and embodied practice of journey and observance. Engaging the viewer in Magic and Place, Sinclair traverses the interaction between the human and the more than human to reveal visions of spirit at play in the world.

With a love of folklore and story, alongside a desire for connection and belonging, her mythopoetic works explore the complex and faceted life in the overlapping places between worlds; the hedgerows, the margins and the remnants.

Sinclair’s ongoing photogravure series commenced in 2017. Since that time she has travelled throughout Queensland, retracing the lands her German and Irish ancestors lived and worked, with a focus on spirit of place, personal gnosis, reconciliation and community. Responding to her experiences, her work has since evolved into a navigation of ways of being and belonging in the nebulous field. She is currently developing work for exhibitions in 2022/23 and beyond.

The artworks featured in Fair Folk, Apple Magic, Earthbound, Speaking in Dreams and Weatherlore developed over a five year period and were created on the lands of the Butchulla, Turrbal, Jagera, Gubbi Gubbi, Wakka Wakka and Wulli Wulli peoples. With gratitude and respect to past and present elders, their ancestors and descendants, who continue cultural and spiritual connections to Country and who hold a deep abiding connection to the Land, Waters and Sky.
